If I were to become a high school teacher there would I be able to live comfortably on my own salary and own a home?

What does "comfortably" mean?
What would your salary be?
What price house would you expect to buy?

I suggest dropping a line to this gentleman, who is a teacher in Simi Valley:

Brian Dennert here

His email address is on the right hand side of the screen.

i'm gonna say minimum salary for a person 65,000 annually, couple around 80,000 to own a modest single family older home is an average neighborhood. Given the fact that if you dont have alot of consumer debts and car payments.

You could conceivably afford a home in Simi Valley, but you could also live in Morrpark while working in Simi Valley. Which high school? I attended Simi High over 30 years ago, my sister attended Royal over 40 years ago, and my brother also attended Royal about 28 years ago If it's the Santa Su Magnet school, I attended that when it was still Sequoia Jr. High, LOL!

Simi is a beautiful place to live and I think you'd find teaching here a positive experience.

I'd be surprised if you were even able to satisfy the "if" part, the Simi Valley school district is seeing declining student enrollments and there are very deep budget cuts.

Anyhow, with current prices, it would be difficult to afford a modest home in Simi Valley on a teacher's salary. 10 years ago it wasn't problem though.
