Hi forum members,

We are planning a move from the Portland, OR area in two months. Family of 4, spouse not working currently, will start after we move to the area. I will be working in Carpinteria. Was planning on -

Staying in Camarillo and commute to Carpinteria
Rent a 4 BR with budget of 2500-3000.
High school - Adolfo Camarillo High.

I have gone through the threads and discussions. However, will appreciate if anyone can advise me

Regarding the drive from Camarillo to Carpinteria on a daily basis.

Are there other areas that I should consider keeping in mind good High Schools, safe area to live and drive in that order of importance?

Thank you all

PD

Camarillo is a fine enough city to raise a family but I don't think that you will like that commute. Maybe midtown Ventura or (the other side of carp) Goleta might provide some options.

Camarillo is doable, you just will be in the car for a while

Unless you have flexible hours, it will be a rough commute due to traffic.

Neighbors here in Carpinteria moved to Goleta. Said it was a school issue with their white daughter and mexican gangish girls. Their words not mine. Could just be kidds that have all moved on by now. Goleta is a good commute. You would be going opposite the flow of commuters from S.B. to Carp. If it was me, I'd check out Ojai 1st. 2 lane road but moves alone well all hours. Schools ? That is all I got.

I was born in Santa Barbera and raised in Ventura for two decades. Do everything possible including home schooling to keep your kids away from rough Mexicans and Mexican gangs. The rough Mexican influence will ruin your child. Trash talk, fighting (physical), tats, drugs, smoking, drinking, ditching school, graffiti, rape, vandalism and that is just off the top of my head. The further north you go, the better off you will be.

Default Final decision

Hello Friends.

We finally decided not to move to Camarillo. Several factors relating to the job for spouse, schooling options and most importantly travel to Carpinteria led to this decision.

Thank you to all for your inputs.

You are going to love Carp once you get to know it. The commute, not so much. If misory loves company, you'll have that going on.
