Considering moving North from CT....was wondering 3 things about VT...

1. Are there cabins or homes for rental or purchase for $1500 a month? If so what part?
2. Is there a demand for electricians and firewood businesses?
3. Do you have a reason for me not to make this move? please dont use weather because I need and want COLD & SNOW!

I’m thinking your question is pretty loaded and people might take it in different ways, however there is always something available to rent for $1500 in most areas of VT. As for demand for electricians and firewood, sure, get in line with all the other electricians and firewood guys. It all depends on what type of electrical work you are skilled in, running commercial buildings, camps, generators, log cabins, new construction, fixing some drunk’s excuse for rewiring an old farmhouse etc.

If you’re looking in the Burlington area, the $1500 will be harder to find a home for depending on what you are looking for. Chances are you will do fine finding a place to live, people aren’t exactly turning down solid renters these days. If you aren’t looking in Burlington/Rutland etc. and actually looking in Vermont, then you won’t need all $1500, but I’d live frugally as putting two paychecks together as an Electrician just starting out in the market can be tough.

The market for electricians and firewood is pretty well saturated with locals...on top of many doing their own work, and finding their own firewood free or cheap. You can get a house or cabin rented for less than $1500 in some parts of the state. Stay away from Chittenden County and a few resort towns and prices will be less than that. You should be warned a lot of better rentals are found word of mouth and not advertised...
