What is it about Middlebury that you hate?

When I was in high school, I visited Middlebury College and fell in love with the location. Of course, I did not know the culture or ambience of the town. I just fell in love with the school, based on it's beauty, and I wanted to go there.

Yes, I did get in, but I eventually chose to go elsewhere.

I dont know, Arel.....
Strngely enuff it has some stuff I
like, like neat used bicycle c0-op...
An anarchist bookstore that overlooks
a breathtaking waterfall area, but there
is just something about it that make it
much less desirable to me than most
other places in Vt. Im more of a
Rt.100 type of guy....Rochester, Stockbridge
etc.....I dunno !?!?!

Thats only one of the beauties of Vermont !! Something for
everybody. You wont find a more diverse state on the
East Coast, in my opinion. Check M-Chester out......if
you like it, be glad you found your spot ! I love
book stores and coffee and Manchester has both.
I might even suggest that you check out Middlebury too,
if you find Manchester to your liking. I hate Middlebury,
but can very easily see someone who liked Bennington
or Manchester liking it, too.

Haha...I see how you are!! . I love books, and going to coffee places too...I am kind of a nerd, lol. Not a partier or drinker, I dont even smoke. I like to sit in a place and maybe chat with people or just be left alone to read or think my thoughts. If I can do that in Manchester, I'll be happy. Plus my daughter is hopfully going to attend Southern Vermont College. And I dont want to be too far from her.

LOL kozmic...I love Middlebury, but know what you mean about not being able to put your finger on why. Kinda the way I feel about Southern VT in general...though I don't "hate" it....just prefer the northern part of the state.

As soon as this ludditian woods gnome can figger outz how to
gits pictures from the Microsoft machine to the new fangled
MacBook Im typing on currently, Im going to put a pictorial
of Proctor up. We are unpacking right now, so it wont be soon
but when you see the thread, ckick on it cuz we got some great
shots before we left. Being close to Rutland, I dont think people
would want to check it out if looking from far away, but it is
an oasis unto itself. A real gem in the ruff !
But, yeah.....Rutland area is as South as I would ever go when
come back...

Hey Kosmic Ninja,

What is it that you like better about the north than south of Vermont?

To keep it short and not bore you to tears....
North has Burlington-Champlain and also an intangable in the scenery and landscape....I guess Middlbury is semi-north, though....So that makes me look kinda stoopit But really, that can be found in many places. Im a bicycle rider and regularly saw stuff that could have been a cover
shot for Conde' Naste magazine on my rides !!

Wasnt that Vermont, in the scene where Forest Gump was running through that beautiful fall foilage?? I heard it was. Now that is what I would love to go biking through, scenery like that.
