We may be relocating for my job to VT (near Waterbury). I have 2 small children (1 1/2 & 3), so I want to find an area that would have lots of kids around, we don't want to be on secluded land with noone nearby. Also, I need to consider preschool options (only looking to send them in the mornings) and elementary school eventually (they both go to private preschool now in which they are fully immersed in both English and Mandarin languages). We would like to find a nice, clean, safe family friendly area. My husband enjoys the lake, so it would be nice to be short driving distance to Lake Champlain. Thoughts on where I should consider? We plan to rent for the first 6 months or so and then buy. Any good sites to see current rentals/homes for sale that you suggest?

Thanks in advance!

South Burlington - it is a 25-30 minute commute. South Burlington is a great place to live, lots to do, best school system in the state. Waterbury doesn't have many options for rentals or schools.

Waterbury I'd an awesome town for young families. We just moved here with kids the same age! Lots of activities, great schools.

Waterbury is a great place to raise a family! The pubic preschool is free, and is 3 mornings/or afternoons a week. There is a great community of parents here, many visit the Children's Room; a non-profit playroom for young children. You are also pretty close to Williston for shopping at the big box stores if need be, there are great restaurants and a cute downtown area, grocery store, playgrounds, and lots of community events.

Oh, I also wanted to note that I have 2 children at Thatcher Brook Primary school in Waterbury, and We LOOOOve it! I honestly think that Thatcher Brook was the perfect match for both of my children
