Hi, folks:

Seriously considering a move to Middlebury area. Have done lots of research, visited, and know all about mud season and the relatively high tax rates in VT. My question is about the local schools. Can anyone comments on the pros and cons of the local public schools versus private schools (other than expense of private). For example, how do the Bridge School or Red Cedar compare to Middlebury Id#4 (strange name) and Weybridge. Thanks for any insight you can share.

Mary Hogan School is the elementary school in Middlebury. I have hard nothing bad about it. Bridge and Red Cedar are less traditional and more hands on/outdoor oriented.

hi there..

we are also considering a move to the middlebury area. we are in texas and my husband grew up in norwich, and we both really love the champlain valley. we are looking closely at schools and have been trying to research as much as possible, as we have 3 kids(5,8,10). in my research it looks like middlebury has good schools, very good middle and high. we are also checking out weybridge, have you seen this article?Does class size matter? – Schools of Thought - CNN.com Blogs
weybridge is very small and i like the concept of grouping the grades and the individualized learning possible w so few children. have you been to visit these schools? any info you have found i would love to have you share!
