Where in Vermont do you think you'll be? There are lots of lakes, tourist attractions, etc. What does your family normally like to do.

In Burlington area the Echo center, shelburne museum, Vermont Teddy Bear, and Ben & Jerry's come to mind. Lake Champlain is right there. Biking, hiking, opportunities galore. Burlington is a college town with plenty of nightlife. There's usually something going on. What did you have in mind?

there is so much to do. Hiking, biking, swimming, and tourist things like ben and jerry's, breweries, restaurants, etc.

For a good hike (with only 1 car) I always like the hike from the Appalachian gap to the Stark's nest at Mad River Glen... it's not an easy hike but I think it's worth it, but this is more central than north.

Hiking in Central Vermont
General Stark Mountain - Elevation: 3662 Feet
4-5 hours roundtrip, elevation gain 1,285', 6.2 miles.Off Rt 100 take Rt 17 to the Appalachian Gap. Take the Long Trail South for 3.1 miles to the summit, passing the top of the Mad River Glen Ski area. There are three overnight shelters near there. (Theron Dean, Stark's Nest, and Glen Ellen Lodge)

We vacationed in Vermont last summer and enjoyed it so much we decided to go back to the same place this summer. One thing we did was go Blueberry picking. Here's a link for PYO places for the whole state: Where in Vermont to find pick your own farms and orchards for fruit, vegetables, pumpkins and canning & freezing instructions! We had just missed a blueberry festival the week before but really just wanted to pick berries anyway, but here is a link for other festivals: US Craft Events & Festivals Calendar | Browse Craft Events & Festivals of Vermont, United States I'm sure forum members can point you towards the good ones!
