I'll be working in Springfield and commuting to Albany, NY on the weekends and occasionally during the week. I'm looking for recommendations for communities and/or apartment complexes where I can rent a small studio or one bedroom apartment. I'm trying to keep my commute to Albany within 1.5 hours. Thanks

It takes me about 45 mins (depending on weather/slowpoke in front of me) to get from Chester via Route 11 to Route 7 in Manchester. I haven't driven to Albany from that point, so I can't tell you how much further it would be. That written, I would suggest looking for housing in the Londonderry area to ease the commute to Albany, but you're still going to have a long ride to Springfield. Chester has a few small apartment complexes. It will give you the longer ride to Albany, but ease of commute to Springfield.

I believe one is named the Schoolhouse apartments which is on 103 just north of 11. The other might be named the Chester Apartments. It's just behind the Chester House Inn on Main St in Chester.

There are many lovely older homes lining Main St and I know there are a number of apartments within them. The ladies at the town hall are usually pretty helpful if you have a question.

If you want a real estate agent, the folks at Barret and Valley real estate on the Green in Chester I found to be very helpful.
