Peter Dodd...my son lives in North Bennington. My wife and I grew up in North Bennington. Our families are still in North Bennington. Be prepared to pay $700.00 and up for a one bedroom apt. in the Bennington Area, and that generally does NOT include all utilities. In Bennington I would say stay away from Prospect Street and BenMont Ave and Depot streets. The area up around Southwestern Vermont Medical Center is nice if you could afford the rent. North Bennington is not bad either if you can afford the rent because of the college. Try looking up the Bennington Banner online and see what you find. Good Luck.

Bennington resident here. There are not a lot of apartments in town, and fewer in "nice" sections. You might want to contact LM Realty. One of the realtors there owns some good apt blds in town and if he doesn't have anything, he can probably steer you to someone who does. You could also check out the classifieds in the local paper (Bennington Banner).

If you have other specific questions about Bennington, post them here, or send me a direct message. Good luck.

North Bennington, Old Bennington, as well as the area near the hospital and southern vt college, and west of old bennington right by the ny state border. There are other areas that are decent as well but in general these would be the nicest. Places to avoid would be Gage st area and a few of the side streets in the downtown area. I wouldn't worry about violent crime or anything like that, but some areas are definitely a bit sketchy and filled with druggie types. Hope this helps.
