I apologize if this thread is a repeat of an earlier one that I have not read. Does anyone know/have known anyone currently or in the past with an old fashioned Vermont name? For instance I had a grandmother named Myrtle. In the town where I grew up there were two Percys (both men) and two Pearls (both men as well) that have long since past away. Now I know that these AREN'T JUST old Vermont names and didn't even originate in Vermont. Still does anyone know/knew an old Vermonter with a unique name?

LOL! My ancestors were Vermonters for a few generations back and they all had names. I guess they would all qualify.

Off the top of my head; Izola, Emerson, Mona, Dascomb, Vera, Merrill, Prudence, Seth, Elsie, Ethan,Winona, and most names listed in the Bible.

My ancestors were Vermonters too. Every Bible name I can think of plus Loren, Ruby, Ella, Merton, Simeon, Willard, Abijah, Anson, Auruni, Silas, Nathan, Thaddeus. Maybe some of these are Biblical?

Depends upon the era--the Biblical names are mostly older, all the Rachels, Abrahams, Benjamins, Ruhamas.

Emerson and Willard fit a Vermonter. Love Thaddeus.
