We are Vermont residents who are buying a property in Rochester for our parents. Does anyone here know much about the area as far as which internet service to recommend, cell carrier (if any work?), property maintenance, etc? Also just interested in general experiences and stories pertaining to the Rochester area!

Hopefully someone intimately familiar with Rochester will chime in with particulars.
I only know a little of Rochester from passing through there numerous times and I really like what I see. Its a small, somewhat isolated town. Seems like a tight knit community. Small grocer (Macs) in town. You'd have to travel for larger supermarkets over the mountains to towns like Middlebury or Randolph. A couple nice small cafes. A nice inn. It really is a quintessential small Vermont town with the town green, inn etc. We drove through on the day of the high school graduation one time and they had it right on the town green which I though was great. Rochester took quite a hit during Hurricane Irene but the towns people banded together and made it through together.
