Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of the Super 8 Motel in WRJ? Our family is planning a trip for the first week in Feb. We have three boys so family friendly is a must. I would be a nervous reck in a nice B&B
The Super 8 has the best rates overall but I would like some input. The basics are fine and cleanliness is a must. Anyone have any info or other suggestions?
Thanks a bunch
Pabear

TripAdvisor.com is a great place to get "real person" reviews about hotels and stuff, here's the Super 8 in Rio Blanco....

Search results: Super 8, White River Junction VT - TripAdvisor

... the place sounds very hit or miss. Probably worth using that site to find a nicer alternative in the area.

LOL! Thanks for that amusing new designation. I live in RutVegas, but I have an errand to run in Rio Blanco. I like it! :-)

Thats an older property, with exterior doors. I've stayed in both the Comfort Inn and the Hampton Inn and can recommend them both.

No--do not stay there...(Super 8)
We stayed there (for about 20 minutes) in August. Switched to another motel. Don't go for cheap...it's a dive in my opinion! Dirty...just run down..awful view of the highway..bleh. They are always hiring staff (big turnover...). Just a no go...

There are a lot of places to stay in WRJ...Comfort Inn was nice but the beds were rough in our room.

That whole section is 'motel row' so keep investigating...if you need links, I will send you some from the local phone book.

Thanks a bunch everyone! I had found the site with reviews after I posted. A definate NO GO!!! I am thinking the Hampton is sounding just fine. GypsySoul...do you have any first hand knowledge about the Coolidge Hotel? The Hubby may need temporary lodging for a month or two if he pursues employment in Corrections.
Thanks!

Okay, well, I have to say the Coolidge is another weird (again from outside) place in a sort of bad part of WRJ (I'm from NY so 'bad' here is nothing like bad in NY). It's near the good bagel store and train station (2 pluses). However, I have read a few things about that place that makes me think it's one of those hourly rate places...(maybe I am wrong?). I would do a search of it..I know I read at least one review online (google it) when we were looking for a place to stay.

Your husband might be able to negotiate with a better motel/hotel for 2 weeks. Comfort Inn (where I think we stayed with the bad beds) offered a big room, a kitchenette with sink to wash dishes, microwave..you can save $ simply by eating in your room for many meals.

I would definitely look around some more. I have always heard good things about Hampton Inns (not sure of the one in WRJ, though.) My parents always stay at Hampton Inns.

If you want restaurant and travel info (where to go, what places to eat at) let me know. WRJ is not far from West Lebanon. On the main road there are plenty of fast food places. In WRJ there is a McDonalds. The Chinese place on Sykes is okay. You mentioned you have 3 kids. They do a reasonable lunch buffet.

There are some restaurants in the area that are tourist traps...I will be sure to tell you which ones based on our experience.

Hi, I concur...suggest you consider staying in West Leb (just over the river) and another possibility is to stay at the Cavendish Pointe Hotel in Cavendish/Ludlow, close to Okemo...easy to get to, reasonable rates and pool and breakfast! About 30 mins from WRJ.

The Comfort Suites in WRJ is relatively new iirc and looks quite nice from the outside.

Over on the Lebanon /Hanover NH side near the Hospital there are 2 different Marriots that I know are excellent.
