What would you like to know?

Rural. Population of about 2K. The Monkton General Store is the only real commercial venture in town. A small store with gas pumps.

Monkton Central School has a good reputation. Jr High & HS is in Bristol at Mt. Abe.

Most folks work in the Burlington area, some in Vergennes and MIddlebury.

Monkton is very rural, so that is a positive if that is what you are looking for. Otherwise, you'll be driving everywhere. Movies are in Williston 25 minutes away. Big grocery stores are 25 minutes away. Smaller grocery stores are 10-15 minutes away. Restaurants, 10-15 minutes.

Small but picturesque hamlet. Built on a ridge with some nice views. Productive farmland to the west & east. A pond (Flatlanders would call it a lake) nearby. 20 minutes to major shopping in Williston. 30 minutes or so to urban center, medial care, Lake Champlain, University of Vermont -- all in Burlington.

The foliage is amazing, on crystal clear days you can see miles and mile of mountains rolling into the distanc, and on some nights, the most beautiful sunsets god gave earth The air smells fresh...especially right now, cut grass & fresh rain= "ahhh" to the senses. I'm so much more relaxed living here. The people are respectable not snotty or rude (well, you'll have your share of those whereever you choose to go!). They also keep the roads and homes clear of debri, unlike most...busier places. I actually work at the Monkton General store in their deli & soon as cashier (as I was just hired about two weeks ago). The owners bend over backwards for customers, even going so far as pumping gas on rainy days (like today! However- please don't expect that to happen every time you go there). It may not look so stunning on the inside, (at no fault to them-or me-it's impossible to get that place spotless, as the previous owners didn't seem to have taken much pride in their cleaniness) but they have deliciously yummy food, I would say better than Subways, (which I have worked @ for 3 yrs in highchool). Ice cold beer or every falvour availale 24/7, fresh veggies, meat, goodness- you just gotta try the place out for yourself!!Hope this was helpful!!

If you want a small town feel, you should look at Bristol. It is quintessential small town America
