I'm trying to trace my familial roots. My father was born in the Middlebury area in or about 1929. He was adopted in or about 1931 (but the adoption could have taken place any time in between 1929 and 1931, inclusive. His birth name was Daniel Edmond Ash/Ashe. I know very little about his birth family, but I've been led to believe his mother died when he was a baby and he had two older sisters. His adoptive parents' names were Dorothy Walker (nee Sharon) and Alexander Walker. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. (My name is Sharon)

I recommend contacting the Middlebury Historical Society (http://www.middlebury-ct.org/historical_society.php - broken link). I think most everything is closed today due to the weather so this may not be the day to call. Their web page also has email & snailmail contact info.

Thank you for your feedback, and I will contact this source. I have contacted numerous public offices in Vermont and, unfortunately, I do not seem to have sufficient information for a search. However, it is definitely worth the effort.
