Hi,
I know I am late for fall, but we are planning to travel to Vermont next weekend (Oct 22) to enjoy Vermont fall foliage and a family friendly vacation. We have 2 kids 5 and 13 yrs.

Any suggestions on places to see.. We have just one night to stay. Will drive from Connecticut on Saturday morning and return Sunday night.

Manchester?? Burlington?? In between Brattleboro? Any other town..
Not able to decide as I dont know anything about Vermont.

Shall appreciate any suggestions for town and activities.
Thanks

Up north we are past peak, though what's left is still beautiful. I'd probably focus on the lower half of the state...which I don't know enough about to give you info on! Sorry!

Definitely Brattleboro-Bennington. Peaked already in Springfield.

Champlain Valley should be fairly good next weekend. We are a few days from peak in my estimation. Burlington, Shelburne, Middlebury corridor. Mountain areas will have gone by.

Thanks,
So I understand that I need to focus on south Vermont.
Is it reasonable to book a room in Manchester? I would like to take a hotel in a town with good kid friendly activities and as nearer to foliage drive.

Well it is Manchester.... so it won't be reasonable, priced anyway. It is peak foliage, rooms may be hard to come by.

You're not going to get any foliage on October 22 anywhere in Northern New England. Even the hills in Western Connecticut are already past peak by then.

I am a little south of Burlington in the Champlain Valley and we are peaking this week. Sounds like rain Thurs/Fri which may take a lot of leaves down. I still think the Champlain Valley would be your best bet if you really want to come to VT.

Was just about to post something in that regards.

You all have today & tomorrow to enjoy the colors. Not only the rain is coming but it's going to be windy. Wind gusts start to pick up Thursday evening but the strongest wont be till Saturday or Sunday. So say goodbye to the pretty leaves.
