Vergennes has the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad which is the ambulance service. Porter Hospital is in Middlebury, about 15 minutes away and Fletcher Allen in Burlington about a half hour. The only time a helicopter would come if it was something super serious such as a really bad accident.

Vter--thanks so much for all of your help! The hospital thing really sets my mind at ease--15 minutes is a lot different than 45 to who-knows-how-long-depending-on-freeway-traffic! Can't wait to come visit in a couple weeks!

I've lived in Vergennes for 6 years now and I love it. I work in Middlebury, so its an easy commute. It's close enough to Burlington for heavy duty shopping when needed.
