Quite a bit of skier traffic will route through B'boro as it is the jct for I91 and VT 9 and 30. Mt Snow, Stratton, Bromley are all just W and NW of there. The skier traffic by far creates the most hazzards on the roads as well as congestion. It is a necessary evil in order to keep the economy going. Too fast for conditions, aggressive driving (tailgaiting and improper passing), and multitasking are major factors. Add some booze and/or MJ into the mix and the risk is even greater. Despite the amount of skier traffic you can still avoid the bulk by timing your travels and using secondary roads where they exist. In the last week I have seen several off the road up my way which is good since that means they did not hit someone else.

Well, if tourists visit, that means you live in a desirable area that tourists would want to visit.

All the roads in VT get busy during the summer, fall and winter. The only time and i mean this when we don't have a ton of tourists here is spring aka mud season. My town has population of close to 10,000 people and some of the nearby towns in NH are stlightly larger by a couple thousand people. Tere are also many smaller towns nearby too. The main streets in our area can get very congested for the areas size there are several towns that have people commute in for work and the raods in those towns get pretty congested and its worse in the summer, winter, and fall. So no not all the traffic in VT is because of tourists but it is made worse because of tourists. Also for many years large trucks have been banned from VT interstates which makes traffic even worse. Although it sounds as though the ban will be lifted which would help.
