I have lived and visited all over the US and Canada and this is a first...
No Oprah on Vermont tv?!! Can anybody explain why the beloved daytime queen isn't on tv?!! What a disappointment...
We should petition to get her broadcasted here. Anybody knows how we can make that happen?

Channel 5 is NBC. The station is technically out of Plattsburg NY.

Ha, Ha, I have to agree. So much on TV is absolute drivel which seems designed to just dumb down the masses. Newton Minow, the Chairman of the FCC said it best in May of 1961 when he referred to the trend of TV as a vast wasteland. He is still alive and I would love to know what he feels today. Anyway here is his statement from 1961 which is as true today if not more so than back in the day of rabbit ears and B&W TV: "But when television is bad, nothing is worse. I invite you to sit down in front of your TV set when your station goes on the air and stay there for a day without a book, magazine, newspaper, profit-and-loss sheet, or rating book to distract you--and keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that you will observe a vast wasteland."

Actually, watching syndicated reruns of the old 60s shows for the most part is better than a good amount of contemporary programs.
