I have only been in Vermont for about a year, but someone told me that you could get a log load dropped off at your house and cut it yourself. Does anyone know who to contact about getting this done?

Thanks

We were hoping to get some log lengths delivered too. We've been told that some bigger businesses are switching to wood for fuel and they are getting first dibs on the log lengths. Doesn't seem fair but with the rising cost of fuel it makes good economic sense.
The cost of cut split and delivered is quite high here but again, it requires fuel to move it. And energy to move it again to the furnace or wood stove!
I'm hoping someone can give us both a source that'll deliver the log lengths. We're in Rochester and surrounded by forest so it would seem that wood would be easily available and reasonable.

Just call your local log guy and I am sure they could help you get your wood delivered in lengths or at least give you some info. I noticed in our paper there are several ads for wood delivery.

In my area it appears that orders for wood have exceeded the ability for those who supply it to keep up. Speaking with some of the locals also shows that even though prices are rising the profit for loggers based on time and costs involved is just not keeping up.
