I'll second the VT Pub & Brewery! Also, if anyone ever gets far enough up Rte. 100 to Lowell there's the Hidden Country Restaurant. It has a truly unique atmosphere consisting of old wood fired cook stoves and memorabilia. Outside there's a duck pond, complete with pellets to feed to the ducks and a half dozen buildings that resemble an old frontier town. Those buildings are actually peoples' homes and they're totally modern on the inside. Also, over in Montgomery on Rte 242 is the Belfry. It's an old converted one room school house. Kinda small, but very good steaks and fish. If you're in Lyndonville, there's the Miss Lyndonville Diner on Rte. 5. My wife and I go a bit out of our way to have lunch there quite often. One more if you can bear with me is Radio Deli in Burlington on Pearl St. Perhaps the best sandwich shop in VT.

There are lots of great places to eat as well as stay...there is a book, don't know if any recent updates of it...called Back Roads and Country Inns...many of them are open for dinner for non-guests. On another note, there is a small and fun restaurant in Montpelier called Julio's, just down the road a bit from the Statehouse...Mexican food. In Ludlow (Okemo MT Resort area) there are two really good restaurants (there are others too), Sam's and DJ's. In Springfield, there is Penelope's and a pub downstairs called McKinley's. And, up the road from Ludlow (Route 103), in Mt. Holly, on the way to Rutland is a terrific small restaurant called Harry's. Almost impossible to get into especially during ski season on weekends...so go early or after 9. Worth it!
