It's official, as I sit here it is December 8th and we just had our first night of below zero weather The forcast for the rest of the week-wed in the 50's with rain then back to the teens. It's turning into another crazy winter.

At 0730 this morning -8 here in the hills on the Hinesburg Huntington border. Also had about five inches snow yesterday. Shame it will all turn into a glacier come late Tue and Wed.

I do, too! Now I expect to see more birds outside at my feeders for sure. Yesterday we did the crafty thing by making bird seed pine cones with our son.
Must remember our feathery friends this time of year!!

This is what I worry about. I see one of the days this week has a prediction of 45 high and 19 low. That turns roads into skating rinks.

The biggest problem for me last year was a day, can't remember which month, with a high of 60 and then an immediate drop in temperature. The snow didn't melt and I had a slick sheet of ice on the base of my hilly driveway for weeks. I actually had no control going down my driveway for about 15 or 20 feet where the trees block the sun. Like a rollercoaster drop. I was able to stop about ten feet before getting to the road. Naturally, being a Vermont driveway, there are ditches on each side to make it all the more interesting.

I remeber all too well, and we would sand and it would rain and wash it away and just create a new glaze. Was just plain dangerous getting from point a to b for too long!

I feel bad for people who moved here and moved away because of last winter since it was not at all typical. I'm a pretty hardy guy when it comes to winter, but last winter got to me a bit. I've been dreading this winter, and I don't usually do that.
