Has anyone swapped the dreadful hot and humid summers of southern Louisiana for the cold winters of Vermont?
If so - did you make the right decision?!!

Not Louisiana, but Miami, FL, which has some pretty dreadful summer that lasts all year. Left in 1988 for NH. Moved to Vermont in 1996. Never looked back. Never will. Vermont is my home and I love it here, in good times and bad.

Do spend some time here first. We had friends from Louisiana make their first visit to Vermont last year (Oct.). They loved the colors, but the first frosty morning made them shiver ! I have no idea how they'd do at 20 below zero ! And I cannot imagine the heat and humidity they describe as the usual weather there !

Hi Duff -
we're not originally from Louisiana (been there 9 years - coming from Europe). I don't think either of us got used to the high summers! My wife is from Germany and used to baddish winters; I'm from UK and not!
Hoping to visit in a few weeks - depending on whether the new jobs look likely!
