I've been reading through the Vermont forum and have often seen the term "flat-lander". Thus, I expected Vermont to have mountains. I haven't seen any pictures of mountains. Are there any? My idea of a mountain might be extreme since I grew up in Seattle.

For the most part I grew up in Colorado. I compare the mountains here to the foothills of the Rockies.

Well, it isn't called the Green Mountain State for nothing. You must know that the Appalachian ranges do not reach the same elevations as the Cascades or the Rockies, but they are nonetheless still considered mountains by any definition of the word.

Our mountains are older and more worn down. But there's not very much flat land in VT...

But understand the "flatlander" term originated back when the Appalachian Range was the frontier...and states like MA, RI, etc., were much flatter than Vermont...

Vermont is absolutely beautiful in all 4 seasons. I have to say that in summer, the green is about as green as you can get in the USA, in comparison to Ireland.

Yeah, there's nothing quite like the sight of the forests from on top of one of the mountains in the late spring or summer...so green...I only wish I could have seen them 200 years ago when it was all old growth forest...

Verseau- Thank you for posting the pics. The purple one is amazing.
I am beginning to think that the western half of Washington state is the best place for me. Much greener and higher mountains than anything I've seen in the east. However, Vermont is so amazing for it's anti-sprawl movement. Though I won't be moving there I am very grateful that it exists.

If yer from Seattle you won't spot a mountain in Vermont. Floridians, on the other hand, will.
