Hey all. I'm interviewing for a job in Manchester and am one of four candidates. I was looking for information about the town and surrounding areas. I doubt I'll be able to afford Manchester Center and must live within 20 minutes of Manchester. I have horses and will be bringing them.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or advice would be appreciated. Taxes, cost of living, etc. I'm looking at some properties in Arlington. Thanks for your help.

Manchester is a very popular tourist/resort community. Lots of shops/restaurants/inns and vacation homes.
Arlington is a nice town. I'd also suggest checking out Danby to the north of Manchester. Real Estate will most likely be less expensive.
Sounds like you like horses...there is a huge equestrian event in Manchester/Dorset every summer.
Hopefully someone more local can give you some more specifics.

Danby would be cheaper (I'm not sure why but I've heard a lot of jokes about Danby down here).

Okay, not that this is at all helpful, but I have wonderful childhood memories of Mt. Tabor, Emerald Lake State Park, and the Northshire Bookstore. That's a beautiful part of the state. Good luck with your interview!

Here is alot of demographic info on Arlington, you can also check the pages of Manchester and all the other towns within 20 min.

Arlington is a small town in a rural setting along the Rt 7 corridor. Nice and quiet. Manchester Center is spread out with lots of retail outlets. Holidays and weekend traffic getting around the area can be tough.
