Thanks vter. I heard FAHC was good when we first moved here a few months ago. I feel good about delivering there. Kind of neat to say this baby will be born in VT and our son was born in TX : )

Ol' Fletch is NOT good, please have the kid elsewhere. It's a nice looking hospital, but the staff CAN be numb in the head & the docs have a higher then thou attitude. Great for basic healthcare, but NOT specialised care.

Fight crime, go UNDERCOVER!

Well its already set to have my baby there and I do find the doctor I'm seeing very good and great nurses. I've heard alot of good things from other people here about the hospital and believe me I asked around. Even though I'm closer to Copley Hospital I've been told to stay away from there.

Instead of control freak Fletcher allen the 5th floor looks LIKE a jail, I would have preferred a nurse midwife, unless U have heath issues. Have at it skippy!

Have you gone on a tour of the Birthing Center? I've had two c-sections at FAHC, both were great experiences overall. Our second daughter was born after they had opened the new birthing center, and it's beautiful. I've visited many laboring friends, as well as new moms over on the floor. There is a big difference, in looks, between the birthing center and Shepardson 5 (the floor where you'll stay to recoup for a couple of days). They haven't done any renovations at all to Shep 5, and you may have a roommate. Request and keep pushing to NOT have a roommate, and they'll try to avoid it if possible.

As far as the care of the nurses, etc., I've had excellent care there, and another friend who just had a c/s there said the same thing. Good luck with your birth!

Paullicker, I can't have a midwife because I am having a c-section like I had with my son. Don't know if I'd want a midwife anyway. I know many women have used them but I just prefer doctor myself. As for hospital looks, I don't really care what it looks like as long as the equipment they are using on me is sterile and new and the doctor is competent. The hospital where I had my son back home in TX wasn't so pretty or new looking on the inside or outside but it was one of the top Womens hospitals in TX. I think it will all be good

I just wanted you to know that if you visited the birthing center and saw how new and innovative it is, not to expect the same thing after the birth, when you get moved. You'll be in good hands wherever you are up there in L$D and in Maternity.

I haven't had a chance yet to check it out. But I'll do so after my next appointment in a few weeks. I'm so anxious already about having another baby!
