I agree processing power is not every thing. However Nintendo was marketed to casual people not hardcore gamers. And I understand that Nintendo has great games like Mad World and Zelda etc but Nintendo was the family console
Microsoft and Sony marketed to the more hardcore crowd. The Wii sold better because it was cheaper and PS3 fumbled early on and the Xbox does not sell well in Japan. If Sony was not overpriced and came out the gate faster, Sony I think would of won.
The Wii U will not be able to support 3rd party very well because it is SO MUCH WEAKER than the rest. Their Mascots can only keep them a float so long
Yes, but Nintendo is not used to making HD quality games, it seems they are still learning the entire process and concept of it. Where as Microsoft and Sony has been making HD games since 2006-2005. Now Wii U wants phone apps on their home console.
PS4 I think will win. Sony has the most exclusive IP's Also I think Sony is going to be a bit more powerful than the 360
Thoughts
The smart money is on Sony to win the 8th gen with their incredible PS4. That'll put Microsoft in a really bad position as it'll probably mean that the Xbox One will only get watered down ports of games developed for the more powerful PS4.
The Wii U will survive on the strength of Nintendo's excellent first-party titles although the clear winner this time around will be the PS4. Most serious gamers in my close circle see the Wii U as a secondary console for brilliant multiplayer games like Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart.
Final thought: the Xbox One is about the size of the average Japanese living room so I don't expect it to do too well over there.
I had both an xbox 360 and a ps3. I played the ps3 pretty much exclusively. Never did get into the xbox. Although I did play the 360 when they had exclusive titles only for the 360, but when a game came oht for both systems, ps3 was still my go-to console. I just enjoy the controller moreso than the 360's controller.
I had hands-on time with the Wii U and, I dont know, I wasnt impressed with the games at all. I guess the Wii U is geared to more family oriented crowds.
Over 250,000 PlayStation 4 consoles were sold in the UK during its first 48 hours on sale, MCV reports.
The figure puts the console's initial sales at around 66 per cent higher than the Xbox One, which was alleged to have sold around 150,000 within its first two days.
MCV also suggests that the figure puts initial hardware revenue at around £87m.
