I'm wanting to develop video games, and you know what? I don't get the best video card out there. I get the 2nd best one so that it's slightly "derated..." Not everyone has the best gear so I'd have to test my games on more common stuff.
I live a more mobile lifestyle now, so I game on a Sager i7 4710MQ, 32 gb ddr3, 1 tb msata, 128 gb master boot msata, and 2 tb internal laptop hard drive as my main gaming rig laptop.
Otherwise, I have Lenovo W530, W520, two T420's, a T430 with the NVS 5400, a i7 2.2GHZ early 2015 Mac Air with 8 gb and 256gb hd.
About 5 years old now and just recently have I had to start dialing down the settings on some of the newer games. Also, sli is not supported with all new games like it used to be. Cost a pretty penny to build it in the day but I have to be pleased with how long it's held up.
It is a full ATX board in a rather large Silverstone Raven case. That seemed cool 5 years ago, just seems enormous now. Next upgrade will be mini ITX system in a small box.
I forgot to mention my laptop Sager i7 has a 970M 6gb, and now I got an on sale Asus ROG desktop i7 4970 16GB 960 gtx for about $788 total at MicroCenter. Will upgrade it to a Quadro card.
Built this in 2013 in like an hour. Stuck a Windows 8 USB stick in and the thing was ready to go by the time I got back from the grocery store.
I7-3770K @ 4.52 GHz consistent and stable.
32GB of Corsair RAM (don't remember speed or type - it's an OCer RAM with heatsinks)
Corsair ATX case with white LEDs on case fan and 600W PSU
GTX 960 (was a 560TI til early this year)
Old Klipsch 2.1 that I've had since like 2004 and are still going strong.
Samsung S27D380H
Random Dell 21.5" 1080p from 2009.
I have a TV I occasionally bring in to play WoW at 4K - Doom is semi-playable. I want to get more 4K capable but job situation is shaky now so probably stuck with what I have for awhile.
