While it has been rumored for a while now, today we got official confirmation that The Last of Us is getting a sequel that follows an older Ellie and Joel.
(EDIT 5:30 PM: During a panel discussion later in the day, creative director Neil Druckmann confirmed that Ellie will be the playable character in The Last of Us 2. “Joel was the star in the first, Ellie is the star in this one,” said Druckmann. “Ellie plays differently from Joel.”)
Meh..i was not impressed with the first one- played about 1/2 way through and realized I was playing a half life 2 clone. And after playing open world games like Skyrim, fallout, and saints row, its hard to play a game that is based soley on getting from point A to point B.
I didn't like the first game and the A.I. wasn't as organic was initially showed. The A.I. behavior is what got my attention in the first place. Linear wasn't the issue, everything else was. I don't play video games for the story.
Most open world games consist of side quests that serve as filler. What's the point of having open world games if there isn't enough content to justify it? Now that Naughty Dog have the technology in place, I like to see the A.I. behavior implemented from the E3 demo a few years ago in The Last of Us 2. Open World Games are soulless. I'm currently playing one in Arkham Knight.
I liked the game but man, some of the bosses were really tough to beat, at least compared to the Uncharted series. There will be a lot of people excited about this sequel...I have a few friends who say this is their favorite game of all time.

Ive seen many gamers say it is a good experience, just it play just like Uncharted, because Uncharted is fun.
I've been waiting for this to be announced ever since Ellie and Joel left the Firefly base. The Last of Us is easily one of my favorite games of all time, aside from the Metal Gear series, Mass Effect and TimeSplitters. I know they only released one video but I'm confident in Naughty Dog that this will be better than the original.
