Right now I am using an older 40" tv for my video games. But, it lacks sharpness. I would prefer a much smaller tv or monitor (24 27 inch). But, not sure rather I should hunt for a tv or gaming monitor. Price is also a factor. Keeping the price at around $200.00 (or under $300) is preferred. Also, would like a headphone jack. Any recommendations? I went to Best Buy, but, the selection was very bad.
Your preferences don't match. You can't go into an electronics store to look at top quality, new to the market, tvs at the lowest price range possible. That doesn't happen. Not sure how you expected to walk out with a top of the line tv with that low end budget, regardless of the size.
If all you are going to use it for is gaming...get something dedicated to gaming. You csn look on newegg or some site like that to narrow down preferences vs price. Ny forgoing a tuner and other TV type features you may get more display for your money.
You can walk in to any Frys or Best Buy and show them the price online by Newegg or even Amazon and they will match it.
Asus makes VERY good gaming monitors that fits your budget and needs. This is the same monitor I use at home and I am 100% happy with it.
Uh, depends what it's being used for. Good gaming monitor for PC with Nvida card. Hooking up to PS4 or Xbone, waste of money. They can only do 60 hz anyway so at best you're getting interpolating that doesn't lag. You're paying dearly for gsync and refresh rates that simply don't matter for a console gamer. AMD you'd want a freesync monitor instead. Then there's resolution. 1920x1080 is great for consoles (can't do anything more than that anyway) and low to mid-range PCs. If you have a high-end gaming PC, however, you might want to go 2560x1440 rather than 1980x1080. You sacrifice some speed but get better image quality. Probably don't want to go any higher than that. 4k monitors are slow and require a monster computer to run smoothly.
