Cinematic cut scenes inbetween the action in video games has been around for a long, long time.
One thing that's consistent though is that I tend to skip them if I can. I'm pretty impatient and unless it's a rare game where I enjoy the acting and storyline, I'll just skip them.
The worst thing is those games that you have to go into the config files to skip through the cinematic intro or watch it every time you start the game. Just no.
I think they are a ripoff. This is what they show you on the commercials for the game and when you actually PLAY the game, the graphics are not even close.
When a game has a great story and great cutscenes (like the often mentioned in this forum Witcher 3), skipping cutscenes is something I only do during a 2nd playthrough.
When a game has .. mediocre cutscenes, I tend to skip quite a lot of them - especially if t h e c h a r a c t e r s s p e a k s o s l o w l y... (that was a pain to write ). If a game has fun and well done gameplay mechanics, but the story behind it is absolutely blah - I often skip them all.
Not the first time, I want to experience it all. But after the first time, it's all skip if I can.
