Sure, but wouldn't it be better to have the option to go play an old game you own, to find you regret it, than buy a remaster in nostalgia, then regret it? At least you'd not be out of pocket.
Plus, while it may have zero interest for you, you're one tiny gamer in a sea of billions. There's plenty of people who would like and take advantage of back-compat.
Agreed. Just look at the success of the NES and SNES classic. There's definitely market for people that want to play older games. I just got battle for middle earth 1 & 2 working on my PC again. RPG's in general have lots of replay value.
If the game is worth it, I don't mind paying for a remastered version. Nintendo has released secret of mana, links awakening and all the mega mans on the switch, which I bought.

Absolutely. There’s a huge market for older games. Many older titles, especially those from the 2D era hold up rather well to this day. There’s a certain elegance to their simplicity. It’s mostly the first wave of 3D games, especially those from the N64 and PS1 era, that have aged poorly, at least in terms of how they control (poor camera), though many of them remain fantastic.
Everytime I think "I'm going to go play xxx old ass game" I pretty much regret it every single time without fail.
This right here ^^^
Almost always disappointing - the story may still be good but man are the graphics & physics usually a huge step backwards. Giant 4K HDR tv makes those old graphics look even worse. Going back further than PS3 just doesn’t interesting me.
Today I play the Dreamcast version of Hydro Thunder on my PC and a little later I put in some time with Garou: Mark of the Wolves on my Raspberry Pi. Thanks to the generally high quality of modern emulators like Redream, I've got a huge backlog of games to work through.
So yeah... the PS5 seems impressively simple when it's torn apart but that still doesn't help make it small enough to fit in my entertainment center.
