Hi -
Found the original Atari (complete, with games) in the attic. The kids used to play it, It seems to be in good condition, just needs one rewire, I think.
Is there any collectible value to this, or should I toss it?
Go to ebay and see what the asking prices are. Might be. But also at one point they were literally burying surplus atari software in a deep hole to get rid of it (hence the term "shovelware")
IIRC the 2600 uses a standard AC power adapter that you can find at Target, Best Buy, etc.
The system itself isn't worth too much if it isn't in the original box. 2600s were built like tanks, so there are still a lot around. If it is in good shape with controllers, cords, etc you're probably looking at around $40.
Same thing with the games. If they are unboxed common games like Combat, Pac Man, etc they sell for a buck or two each.
If you're not going to play it, I wouldn't toss it though. Give it to a reputable thrift store.
Thank ya gweilo, ill have a gander next time im there
