I just want to get some advise, we might be relocating to Norfolk,VA since my husband is in the Navy and I'm trying to get some information in the areas that are good and safe since we have a small child.. How safe and good are the military housing ?? Any advise will be appreciate..

Hi Judy! Unfortunately I am not going to be able to offer to much firsthand advice. Just want to say from one military spouse (husband is retired Army) to another, thanks so much for all you, your husband and family do for our country. Best of luck with your PCS!!

Judy,

I'd highly recommend that you post this in the Virginia - Hampton Roads forum. You will likely get many more responses since Norfolk is in Hampton Roads.

During my career in the Navy we lived in housing once in Seattle Wa., Never again. Look at your husbands housing allowance and see what that gets you out in town; you decide which is the better choice for you. Most apartments should include water/sewage and maybe even gas if it's there. Any complex should be able to give you a rough idea of electric costs per month. Norfolk has built new housing in the last several years but there is still older units that I think are best avoided. Good luck in your decision and as BrianLMA said you might want to post/read the Hampton Roads Forum.
