Does anybody know about the Hertiage Estates area in Centreville. I am thinking about renting a townhome in that area. Here are the directions off of the website.

FROM I66 ROUTE 28 SOUTH LEFT ON NEW BRADDOCK, RIGHT ON SINGLETONS, LEFT ON BLUE GRAY, RIGHT ON MARY TODD TO HOME ON RIGHT!

Is this a nice low crime area? About how long is the commute on the subway into DC? Thank you.

There is no rail commute from Centreville. You're looking at commuting to the VRE or Metrorail and then taking that into town. I'm not sure which would be the closest/best option though.

I've never actually explored the community, just gotten passing glances while driving on New Braddock Road, and it looks to be perfectly fine to me. I didn't see any ouward signs of disrepair or neglect. It's just your standard suburban townhouse community. Most of Centreville is perfectly nice and low crime so I don't think you should have any problems in that respect.

As jb124 stated, there is no Metro service to Centreville. The best way to commute into DC via Metro is to either take the bus or drive to Vienna Metro station, although parking is hard to come by later in the morning. This involves a commute on I-66 and that along with the short section of Route 28 you need to travel on, gets really jammed in the morning. This section of the commute during non-rush hour traffic only takes 15 minutes, but during rush hour, will routinely clock in at 30-40 minutes. Then the Metro ride into DC, depending on where you work will be roughly 30 minutes. Door to door, you're looking at 60 minutes on a really good day, probably 80 minutes on average and sometimes way more.

I have lived in Centreville for 17 years. While some developments are better than others pretty much anywhere in Centreville is "nice" and low crime. The area you mention is as good as any.

I would probably take a Metro bus to Vienna Station rather than driving and parking. There is a stop at Singleton's Way.
