Or was there never one here? Is the Roanoke/Salem forum supposed to represent the entire southwest Virginia area? Thats quite a stretch to the southwest to cover all of that area... there are larger cities such as Bristol, Abingdon, Marion, Wytheville, Wise, Gate City, etc in southwest VA (though Bristol can also be related to Tri-Cities TN).

Just wondering.

Never one here. If it's not covered in a specific forum, it goes into general.

When enough traffic appears regarding a specific area that it becomes obvious a new, specific forum is needed, the mods will decide whether to create one.

They don't put one in just in case. Sometimes it frustrates people who are really pulling for a smaller city, but it does make sense.

Thanks!

Maybe it was another site I was thinking of. Well its a good part of the state that is omitted since southwest Virginia covers a good chunk of real estate, but I guess since the general VA forum is here to post on, thats good too.

Thanks again.

Default Interested in this region also

Hi, first post here, I came looking for info on SW VA myself. My husband is an architect specializing in log home construction and we would like to relocate to Virginia.

Default SW Virginia Forum

I think many people still think SW Virginia starts and ends at Roanoke, which is not the case. If anyone has ever driven from Roanoke to Bristol they will discover a diverse area. The area seems to have many similarities with Eastern
Tennessee but it IS Virginia and it should have a voice, in my opinion. The Roanoke area has always been associated with Roanoke Valley, Lynchburg,
New River Valley, The Highlands and some parts of WV, basically the TV market.
The TV market in Roanoke covers SW Virginia also.

I thought Virginia ended at the Eastern side of the Blue Ridge and just North of the James River. There's more?

For me southwest Virginia is the real Virginia

The highlands and New River Valley are just beautiful especially.

Northern VA ought to be a whole separate state!

I just came back from traveling all over Virginia. Comparing Winchester to southwestern VA is like comparing steak to hamburger. As a native of Danville, I'd say if you want southern, then southwest VA is it.

Southwestern Virginia is very similar to Northern Virginia in that both sections of the state get "no respect".
