Hi...thinking of moving to VA but not sure which city would be best for me...im single late 20s, love sports and shopping at nice malls, and like to go out to pubs, clubs, etc..but do not need to stay out til 6am the way NYC places are.. I am also a teacher...I have a Masters degree and am NYS certified..does anyone know if there is reciprocity with NY and what the salary difference is. Thanks!! I am also looking at Charleston and Savannah...any opinions on that? Any answers would be greatly appreciated!!

You will find all the qualities you are looking for in Northern Virginia and most likley more, but you may also find some qualities you aren't seeking. e.g. terrible traffic, and high-cost of housing. The major cities in North Carolina, and Georgia offers many of the positives that NoVa offers and a cheaper cost-of housing.

Default Moving to Virginia

I agree Northern Virginia would be a good choice. It has enough energy for you, plus all of the amenities that you desire. The best part is its access to Washington DC. You may visit Richmond also. It seems to attract young professionals. Since you are from New York, I would be cautious of going too far south until you have done more research on the southern culture. Charleston and Savannah are attractive places to live, but I don't know if you would fit in there right now.
