You are getting the entire issue wrong judging from the above comment....

There are people in the deep south that just don't like/respect Maryland and refuse to accept Maryland as a Southern state for Civil War Historic reasons and also not liking Baltimore....

You don't see these same folx making baseless comments about Florida, Texas, and Virginia not being in the South and most of their areas do not fit the Southern Stereotype hence the threads referring to most liberal-democratic southern cities/regions.

I do know H.L. Mencken was born and lived in Baltimore, and he despised the south.
Why do you Hate the Fact that Maryland is Southern?

I'm asking you why Maryland is southern. I have nothing invested in the answer I'm just curious. Like I said I'm not saying it is or isn't.

Do not bother with him. He's a troll. He never has any facts, just nonsense.

No it's not. Virginia is Southern because it seceded from the Confederacy, has southern accents, southern culture, and southern speech patterns, and demographically is Southern. You need to go back to school

I always associated Missouri with the Midwest because the rapper Nelly being from St.Louis, always shouted-out The Midwest as his home region(This was around 99-00 when the Rams were "The Greatest Show On Turf"). From then on, it was always Missouri=Midwest. Kinda a stupid reason, but that's how I associated Missouri with the Midwest.

At least Cape is farther south than Richmond, VA
Regardless, I agree that like the rest of the border states, Maryland has southern traits as well as traits from neighboring region(s). I haven't been there so I can't conclude one way or another. Maybe it's similar to Missouri where at least parts of it are southern.
