Colonial Williamsburg is mostly free. It's a great way to spend a day out walking and seeing the sites and what better weather for it...

This organization looks like it would be IDEAL for you http://www.meetup.com/colonialmoms

Colonial Williamsburg is free of charge to wander around in, as long as you don't go inside the historic buildings or on a shuttle bus. Horse-drawn carriages, duck ponds, sheep, Merchants Square shops. There are also three Christmas ornament shops that I know of, in the local area.

Check out preschool storytimes at the local public library. The beach isn't that far away, though it will require travel. Or drive over to Jamestown and enjoy the free car ferry across the tidal James River to Scotland - take along bread to feed the seagulls. The Colonial Parkway between Jamestown and Williamsburg has lots of places to stop, have a picnic, stick your feet in the water, watch the boats, etc, as it parallels the James River for several miles.

Have fun with your little one. Check out the heirloom breed farm animals in the historic area, too!

Please do not feed the seagulls! All it does is encourage them to attack people with food who are not sharing. It's also illegal in most states, and leads to several different diseases in the birds themselves.
