The slang can be old or new. Here are some I have heard after living in the southside, central, and tidewater areas of Virginia.

Make groceries -Buy Groceries. ( I actually hear this fairly frequently in Norfolk and the 757 area.)
Over yonder -Over there. (Southside VA)
The park/parks - Projects (Norfolk VA)
Nova -Northern VA (Everywhere in VA)

The fun ways we pronounce place names:
Botetourt County
Fries
Galax
Staunton
Buchanan County
Fauquier County
Pulaski
and my personal favorite Buena Vista.

Virginia Living magazine had a blog post about our dubious pronunciations a few weeks ago.

Pronunciations in VA are no different than elsewhere. Names in the New England states for instance are frequently pronounced differently from the way they are spelled. Being from Staunton, I really get tired of people making fun of how it's pronounced. If you look in the dictionary in the geographic place names, you will see that Staunton is pronounced correctly despite it's spelling(Webster's).

As far as VA slang, I actually can't think of anything that is terribly unique to here.

Lol. Yeah.. I have to say I find it hard to think of any good slang/jargon that we use specifically. Maybe "y'all" but that isn't unique to Virginia, and in certain sections of the state it isn't used at all (nova). It's more how Virginians respond socially to the way people speak that makes us unique, and not in a good or bad way, I just think it's unique - Sort of a blend between Northern and Southern cultures.

In some parts of The Commonwealth they drop the "r" in the name and pronounce it something like "Vuh-ginia"

No regional slang that I remember but a lot of regional dialect I don't hear very much anymore:

"a fixin to git on with it" i.e I'm planning to do ...
" a right fur piece" i.e. pretty far
"He's a few ants shy of a picnic" i.e. He's not very bright
