So is Harrisonburg just another one of those wild college towns or no?

No.
Hburg has a smallish 'historic area' / town center just west of 81, the east of 81 sprawl is everywhere, with every conceivable strip mall and chain store/restaurant imaginable.
And ofcourse the traffic, and ill thought out road system to go with it. 33 is the only real east-west route. But as you take 33 east, it thins out to nothing and then you hit Elkton and Skyline Dr.

And again, to actually answer your pointed question: "no"

Right cause I know it's near JMU and also I saw some video about Harrisonburg and it seemed there were mostly college kids on them.

Technically,...there may or may not be alot of college kids in Hburg,...BUT you would never know either way since in general it is really crowded. Since its the 'shopping mecca' of that entire area you pretty much see everyone, of every age.....

No way! The shopping mecca for the entire area? I remember just how crazy the traffic was around the Apple Blossom(?)Mall in Winchester just on a Saturday nite, and also there was a little town in NC I drove through once around the holidays and it was pretty much bumper to bumper all around, and that was not even for a mall but a shopping center!
I guess I'm just used to the shopping areas here in the north being all spread out to where it's not too congested in just one area. I suppose that's the way it must be down south in order to have peace and quiet in most of the areas. You want action? Well head on out to the 'shopping area'!

I guess the entire area being west of the Bluerdidge, north of Waynesboro, east of WV, and south of Front Royal,....it has just exploded with a very high concentration of malls, restaurants, strip malls,...etc..etc...all in a 3-4 mile radius,..and then sprawl is expanding outward from that core.....followed by subdivisions with 400K+ homes on 1/5 acre lots..:-(
Not sure who is buying them though,...the Massenutten crowd still seems to be on the mountain....
Traffic is insane in that core area, and almost every non fast food restaurant will have a wait on any night of the week.
