I realize this is a repeat post from the Richmond board and I apologize. I figured this might get more looks and this is more in regards to Norfolk.

I'm currently debating between a number of cities and areas to move to. Primarily looking for better opportunities as there are few and far between in Northern Ohio for someone with my degree (Political Science/International Relations). I've been trying to secure a job before moving but this has just not been panning out. Currently doing web design work to get by but also possess internship experience doing research work, editing and report drafting as well as a few years of volunteer work experience. I'm looking at Richmond and the Norfolk area, and wanted to know what these cities were like job market wise for younger professionals. I'm 28 and single.

Other places I'm looking at are Columbus/Dayton, Raleigh and the DC area primarily. The West coast is a new addition.

Post in the Hampton Roads forum which covers Norfolk. Also search on that forum. You will find threads addressing this.

I have lived in Newport News for a bit over a year. The job market here is not good from what I have seen. Unless you are military or can get a job with a defense contractor, many of the available jobs do not pay well.

Good luck.

Fenrir07, with web design, what programming languages do you know? If you know them, get in with a healthcare company here (amerigroup, sentara, etc) and you won't have the same troubles as everyone else.
