I don't know if you'll be able to find both safe and under 1k/mo in Northern VA. But you weren't specific on what you were looking for, so maybe? I mean, rooms, size, land, etc. I live in Spotsylvania which is pretty safe, but it's also about 1500/mo for a 3bd/2ba home. Apts are cheaper, but 'less safe' of course.
Good luck and you should love the place. Our drivers are
nearly as nutty as in NJ, but the people can be a finer string. Whenever I go to Jersey, I'm always grateful to be back home.
