When are you moving? November 2016
Where are you coming from? Orlando, FL
Why are you moving? FL is too expensive. I have champagne taste, but I'm on a beer budget,
Where will you be working? No idea YET, but i may be transferring jobs
Have you been here yet? yes, a few times
Will you buy or rent? renting an apartment and i honestly think i can spend about $450 including utl. and i know i'll need roommates
Are you married or single? Do you have children? 29, F, Single with no kids
Do you have pets? no pets
Are you keeping a car? yes
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? a little bit of both
What do you want to be closest to? i would like to be closer to both work and grocery stores if possible

like i said ^^, orlando is too expensive for me. i'm originally from nc, but moved to orlando to work for disney. long story short, i got fired but decided to stay in fl because i could re-apply in a year. well, now after some MORE set backs, it's getting too expensive and it's putting a strain on my financial status so i'm moving near my best friend as she/her dad can help me get my status back to OK status. my florida dreams are on hold currently. i currently work at both red robin and mcdonald's and i don't want to work in the restaurant industry forever. i have a degree in communication so i'm looking to obtain a big girl job. i don't think many employers will hire someone with no experience living in another state. should i transfer my restaurant jobs to VA while continuing to look for other jobs? or keep trying to obtain a job before moving to VA? i've only ever worked in restaurants as a dishwasher or crew member. i did retail for a seasonal position. i have a pick of richmond, norfolk, newport news, va beach, chesapeake, hampton, etc. i'm leaning toward the glen allen area or chesapeake but idk, how do i decide?

thanks!

The way you sound you better take what you can get where you can get it...and wherever your support system is. VA aint cheap.

While I doubt the OP will be back as few ever do I'll respond anyway.

With what you're expecting to spend on rent your choices will be very limited. Maybe a room in a home for that amount but an apartment will be tough. What kind of work do you do? Cross Northern VA off your list right now due to the high cost of living.

haha, oh I'll be checking in! I said that based on how I'm living in FL. I barely pay 400 for a room in a 4/2 apartment. I don't want to live in north Va. right now I'm a dishwasher at red robin and a crew member At McDonald's. I don't want to work there forever, i want to put my degree to use. I was thinking Richmond or Chesapeake/VA Beach/Norfolk. I'm applying to jobs in communication-type positions but will employers actually hire me with a FL address and only food experience? before I move or should I just transfer my jobs and continue looking after I have a VA address?

I know but I think it's rather cheaper than Orlando and living right next to disney lol. i know I need a job first but I just love looking at apartments! I'm applying to whatever jobs I think I can do and hoping for the best. the support I have is in the Hayes area so I'm trying to stay within an hourish of that area
