I'm a young mother, recently divorced and looking to live closer to family in Virginia. I know nothing of the area. I know my mom and sisters (who would be a great support system for my kids) are living in the east end of Henrico County, other family is spread out in Petersburg and Hopewell. I don't know much more then that lol. I have small children (one newborn) so low crime and schools/daycares are important. I want to get my son in sports or martial arts classes. I'm doing this on my own so affordable is a MUST. My children are biracial and diversity is extremely important to me as well. I don't want my family to stick out or to get stares and glares everywhere we go. I feel like when I'm in my mom's neighborhood my kids get and I get stared at A LOT. So I'd like to live close to my mom's area but not directly in that area. Friendly people, activities, parks, festivals, museums, etc. would be a plus but i'm willing to travel a bit if I can find the above referenced things on my list. I'm currently a paralegal working in Family Law. I'd like to stay in my profession, but I'm not sure what the job market is like there?

Thoughts, suggestions, etc. Would be appreciated.

Thank you!

You might want to post on the Richmond forum if you haven't already.

yes, what you want is easily achievable. Richmond is full of biracial kids. East henrico can be a bit redneck, but I still would be surprised if anyone did anything more than stare.
