Hi. My husband and I are in our late 20's and will be relocating from Ohio to Williamsburg due to a job transfer. What areas should we look for housing. we'd like to rent a home, probably 1200/month tops. We will take a nice townhome complex as well. I'm just not sure what surrounding suburbs there are.

One other thing....how far is williamsburg from a nice ocean area? thank you

Williamsburg is about an hour and 15 minutes from Va Beach oceanfront area. Not sure what you qualify as nice. If you just want a large wide beach then try the North End around 80th Street and up. There is also the resort area with the boardwalk where all the tourists hang out. Or you can try the Outer Banks area of North Carolina. Corolla and Duck are nice . They are between 2.5 and 3 hours away. Just don't go down on Friday afternoons in the Summer. It will take forever.

You didn't really say what you were looking for in a home. Spending $1200 you might be happier in a condo/townhome .New Town is nice. There are lots of places to eat, go to the movies, shop, take a stroll etc. There is a townhome style apartment complex that is brand new and within walking distance to everything in New Town. I think they start at $1200 for two bedrooms.

There are many nice condo developments where you might find a rental. Elaborate on what your preferences are and we can suggest a few.

Here are a few that you might consider Braemar Creek, Villages at Powhattan, La Fontaine, The Oaks , The Woodlands.

Just depends on what you want. In town near Colonial Williamsburg ? Near Shopping ?
Amenities ? Pool ? Tennis ?

There are rentals deals around if you have time to scope them out.

Welcome to Williamsburg !
