I am looking for temporary accommodations that could lead to longer term. NOT ALONG 95 or around DC.

When are you moving? ASAP/October
Where are you coming from? Fredericksburg VA
Why are you moving? Ready for a change
Where will you be working? Mobile
Have you been here yet? Uhhh

Will you buy or rent? Rent
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? Prefer less than $700/mo.
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? Anything quiet and private. How much can you spend? Less than $700/mo.
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? Neither

Are you married or single? Happily single. Do you have children? Grown
Do you prefer public or private schools? Don't care anymore lol
Do you have pets? No but would like one.
Do you want or need a yard? I would very much prefer nature
Are you keeping a car? Maybe
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Calm and quiet

What do you want to be closest to?
Work
Shopping
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.) ☑️
Nightlife

How big of an area are you looking for? There's a lot of places along 81 that you might want to check out. If you need to be near larger city accomodations, you might consider something near the Roanoke area. If you're good with smaller areas, 81 is filled with cool towns. I'm sure some of them area a little pricier if you live in town, but I bet you could rent in the surrounding areas for what you're able to pay.

I see that you have not had a lot of responses. Less than $700 per month is a very low price in Virginia, if you want to find a rental without roommates (I assume), but not impossible.

I tried looking on several realty websites (Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com) for rentals in your price range. I found clusters of them in Virginia in your price range. If you want to look for yourself, enter the area of your choice in a web browser (not a mobile app), select Map Option, enter your price filters and expand the map. I suggest that you select an area that shows multiple hits. That shows that your price range is practical in that area. In my experience, commercial realty sites don’t feature extremely cheap rentals as there is no big payback for them. Most dirt cheap rentals are spread by word-of-mouth “I know somebody who knows somebody who knows about a cheap deal.”

You might find something cheap online, but you have a better chance of finding those opportunities if you are in the area. If online searches turn up an area with cheap rents, if you can’t go there directly, try asking people who live there such as realty agents. You might be able to talk to the local city/county property office. I don’t know how helpful they will be but I have found that if your people skills are good enough to persuade them to relate to you, they may go offscript and offer helpful suggestions that you might not have thought of yourself.

Best of luck to you.

I can't see that budget paying for anything other than a roommate situation - anywhere in VA.

Go to FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE
in the search criteria, type RENTA CUARTO

Thers a billion rooms for rent in Nova but be prepared to lock your door bc you dont want some drunk housemate coming in to attack you. Also lock everything hidden in your car so no one steals your stuff/IDs etc.

Good luck

Heck. In Woodstock, VA I know a lady paying $675 a month for a one bedroom apt in a house with 4 rentals in it. She still has to pay water and electric as well.
