Hello! My family will be relocating to Virginia this summer from Ohio. My spouse will be working in Farmville, but as the schools there seem to be subpar, we're considering other areas to live in. We're also coming from a dense suburban area and figure we won't be as at home in a very rural area. Lynchburg seems to be a good fit as far as being a small city and also having homes we can afford, but I'm finding conflicting information about the public schools. Great schools has them rated quite low, but the ratings on Niche have the high schools at a B+ and a B. The "best" schools are usually in the most expensive areas and that is just not attainable for us, but I want to find something solid, with plenty of opportunities. My kids are not yet school age but will be soon. Does anyone have personal experience with Lynchburg city schools?

FWIW, my former boss moved from the DC suburbs to Lynchburg city and didn’t have any complaints about the schools even after acknowledging they aren’t as good as the system she moved from Fairfax County (which many consider the best public school system in Virginia and even the US.)
