Thanks for the photos but please tell me these photos aren't the nicest or prettiest views of the city?

Maybe not nice, but quite standard.
Sure, if you are very wealthy maybe you might see nicer areas.

So this is what most of Lynchburg looks like? I'm not wealthy but I'm used to a place that looks nicer than this. Am I weird for wanting that?

Not at all. He thrives on his slum centered life. The nice side of town is closer to this:

The Historic Villa of Kriselea in Lynchburg Va - Weddings and Special Events (http://villaofkriselea.dulwich-manor.com/about-villaofkriselea.html - broken link)

Well maybe not all THAT nice but here's a more typical group of houses in my neighborhood. You get the idea. All are places I can walk to.

Not to mention the beautiful Randolph College Campus

And the VES School

Top realtors specializing in better Lynchburg homes and areas.

I live outside the city limits in a house built 2002. The images I posted are hardly obscure slum images. They are from central Lynchburg close to the hospital and the baseball stadium. These are areas many thousands people pass through on a daily basis.

I know you and I (Badger) do not agree with aspects of Lynchburg and that is fine. I respect that. (I really do, no irony in my voice) My wife and I makes far more then the meridian income for a household of two in Lynchburg ($40,844.), If this info is old or wrong I am sorry, but I doubt that number is extremely wrong.

The links posted are to some beatutiful images. Very nice. But how often does middleclass famelies have access to those areas unless you make a SPECIAL effort to drive too some of the nice areas on the outskirts of the city?? I have myself forwarded the contact info for Jane Blickenstaff to a wealthy person interesed in this area. Like I said, fantastic homes, but who lives there?? Hardly anyone I ever run into. The Randolph College has a nice campus...and Lynchburg college has a very underrated sceninc campus too. (However, I think it would be creepy as I as a 35 year old was sneeking around campuses claiming they are so nice....'cuz both campuses sure are nicer then the standard Lynchburg areas).

I think you said Lynchburg is a city of two tales. I agree 100%. If one is fairly wealthy and does not mind driving far for entertainment or is heavily involved in Thomas Rd , I can see that it is nice.

I lived in Lynchburg for several years. I moved because I did not enjoy the view as displayed in those photos (among other things). I have not visited this forum for over 9 months and I promised myself I would not post anything, but now I feel I just have to. There is nothing wrong with the images posted by “MR_Jonas”, heck they are from smack-dab in the middle of Lynchburg. I used to work for the Community Service Board on Langhorne Rd and drive by a handful of the areas in the photos.
The link examples posted by “badger74” seem to be from the outskirts of the city. Most of Lynchburg does not look like that at least not in most folks everyday life. You more or less have to be a doctor, well paid engineer, lawyer or someone who has made his/hers money OUTSIDE Lynchburg to live there. Nothing to be ashamed of though.
That is all I have to say.

We all have different tastes, right? Lunchburg really was not for me in any way, might be for others.
