I was wondering if anyone could give me some honest answers on the Fort Belvoir Elementary school. We are planning on moving into that area soon, and we hear good and bad things about the teachers there and the large number of students. We are concerned because we have two children with IEP's and it is very important to us that they be followed through. They will be in Kindergarden and Pre-K. All comments are welcomed and helpful to us! Thanks!

It is a HUGE elementary school. I believe it also has a relatively high turnover of students due to military in the area, but that might not be seen as a negative or a positive.
I would like to think that in FCPS you wouldn't have a problem with your childrens' IEP's being adhered to...the district is pretty aware and on top of things. The people in the office of monitoring and compliance would be sure of it.
From where are you moving?

You could also post in the Northern VA thread.

BTW: Kindergarten has a "t".

Thanks for the info. What about the area around the base? Do you know if it's nice or are there parts to stay away from? Just wondering for other things to do in and around there.

* Thanks for the correction! Sometimes I forget how to spell!

Default Fort Belvoir Elementary

Fort Belvoir Elementary school is exclusively open to children of military families who live on post.
Not open to the public even though they are part of the Fairfax County school district.
