Personally, i'm growing to like Deeds. It will be a tough decision between him and McDonell for me. I'm also happy that Moran didnt win.

I guess McAuliffe's midwestern accent didn't buy over the Virginia voters. Deeds is a pretty popular name in VA, but I'm surprised it wasn't even close, given the amount of money McAuiifee threw at it.

McAullife could never connect to downstate Virginia voters. I liked his aggressive style(so unlike a democrat!) but I believe the dems are finally learning how to win elections, even in Virginia! Deeds will be a much more formidable opponet to the McDonnell/Christian right wing machine. The national republican party will pour its guts out into McDonnells campaign. It might not matter since Deeds won on a shoestring budget. I think by Deeds winning over McAullifes' money with Clintons endorsement, it may mean McDonnell is finished before it begins!

McDonnell is far from finished. Deeds won--and Deeds is a likeable man--but this was a low turnout primary. McDonnell's base is far more energized which counts for a lot.

Also, choosing a governor is not so much about who you happen to like, but who has the best plan for the state--and also who has the leadership skills to translate those plans into good policy. McDonnell has it all over Deeds on both counts. His experience as Atty General counts for a lot--he has actually led a huge department in State government. He has negotiated the ins and outs of policy development, personalities, and state bureaucracy. He knows how to get things accomplished for the people of Virginia. Deeds has no such experience.

When it comes down to it, McDonnell is the superior candidate, by any objective measure. Deeds is a likeable man, but not the man to be Virginia's next governor.

I'm voting for the candidate that promises the highest big fat honkin' pay raise for teachers.
